Ukraine and ICC to collaborate in investigating Russian war crimes – Prosecutor General Kostin

Ukrainian law enforcement officers have a joint plan with the International Criminal Court to investigate Russian war crimes in Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin announced this at a joint press conference with ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan in the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital courtyard.

"We definitely have a plan for our work. I can't go into specifics, but we have designated working groups in the relevant areas, and the most important thing is that we are in constant collaboration with the ICC team. Our investigators and prosecutors work closely with the ICC field office in Ukraine and the ICC team in The Hague daily," Kostin said.

According to the Prosecutor General, Ukrainian law enforcement officers, in collaboration with the International Criminal Court, are currently looking into cybercrimes and environmental crimes that were never before investigated at the level of the International Criminal Court.

"Karim Khan and I share a common vision for restoring justice. Our idea is that justice must be restored promptly," the Prosecutor General added.

Since March 2022, the Office of the International Criminal Court has been conducting an independent investigation into Russian war crimes committed in Ukraine.

In September 2023, the International Criminal Court opened its office in Kyiv. The main direction of his work is the investigation of cases pending before the Court since the beginning of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
