Ukraine Charity Run to take place in New York City center

A charity run will start in Central Park in New York on September 15 at 11:00 a.m. To take part, participants must bring clothing or items with Ukrainian symbols and make a donation.

Mykola Taran, the organizer of charity runs in Europe and the USA, shared further information about the event with Rubryka.

What is the problem?

Ukraine has consistently showcased its resilience for over two years and fought for its independence. To reiterate this to the global community and request aid, Mykola Taran, a four-time ultramarathon record holder from Ukraine, has planned a charity run in New York.

"First of all, I want to unite Ukrainians together and at the same time do a good thing – collect donations. This is not my first experience; before that, I already had races – three times in Valencia, twice in Oslo, Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Paris, and Berlin. Secondly, running is useful; it lifts the mood, and that's exactly what I love," Mykola Taran says.

What is the solution?

The race is open to people of all ages and athletic abilities, so the route was carefully chosen to be suitable for children and adults.

"The distance is quite symbolic – 3.3 km. I wanted it to reflect the number of years of Ukraine's independence and at the same time be accessible to a wide audience," the ultramarathon runner explains.

Funds from the event will go towards Zero Line, a volunteer organization supporting individuals, medical professionals, and activists in conflict zones.

A special guest will also attend the event: the famous Ukrainian top model, businesswoman, and social activist Alina Baikova. She will raffle off five T-shirts and dinner for two at Zuma restaurant.

"These are t-shirts, the print of which became known worldwide. It was in this that Alina was on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival, which she had to leave at the request of the security guards of the event," the organizer shares.

Mykola Taran expects his initiative to be supported by a wide circle of like-minded people, with whom he will spend Sunday productively in the heart of New York. He is convinced that doing good is simple and that running a charity has no borders.

For reference:

It's worth mentioning that the DYKA GONKA charity race with obstacles was held in Vytachiv village on July 13. All proceeds from the athletic event will support the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodny Yar."

Additionally, it was reported that Ukrainian soldiers receiving rehabilitation in the Netherlands participated in the "Run for Ukraine" race. This sporting event was held in The Hague in honor of Independence Day.
