The Kyiv City Military Administration and Kyiv Metro reported that.
According to the military, most southern, northern, eastern, central, and some parts of western Ukraine, including Kyiv, were at risk of an aerial attack.
"Another prolonged massive attack by Russian attack drones!… In the capital, the alarm was announced before midnight and lasted continuously for more than 9 hours.
Throughout this whole period, according to previous reports, Russian drones, reportedly the Shahed UAVs, attempted to attack the capital. However, they mostly came to Kyiv individually rather than in groups this time.
But none of the enemy UAVs reached their goal! All drones that threatened the capital were neutralized," the Kyiv City Military Administration reported.
It was also reported that as of 8:40 a.m., there were no casualties or damage in Kyiv.
"Now the capital is free of potential air threats. But I ask all Kyiv residents and visitors to the city to be attentive and vigilant – the attack of enemy attack drones in other regions of Ukraine is still ongoing, and Russian drones may change course and try to attack Kyiv," Serhii Popko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, noted.
At the same time, there are specific problems with the subway movement in Kyiv at this time – it takes about 1.5 hours to restore the regular work schedule.
"Because of the extended air alert on the subway routes, the time between trains is approximately 9-10 minutes for the "red" line, 10 minutes for the "blue" line, and 10 minutes for the "green" line. For the train schedules to return to normal, it will take about 1-1.5 hours," the company's press service emphasized.
For reference:
On the night of September 4 and into the morning of September 5, Russian forces released attack drones from both the south and north, targeting multiple regions in Ukraine. In Kyiv, the sounds of explosions were audible, and Ukrainian air defense was actively working to counter the Russian drones.
The movement of UAVs was also recorded in the Kyiv region. Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported this.
"The air raid alert continues! Air defense is operating in the capital. Stay in shelters until the air alert goes off," the administration said.
Kyiv's Mayor Klychko, in his statement at 06:42, confirmed the functioning of the city's air defense. He also urged citizens to seek shelter and reminded them that the air alert remained in effect throughout the night.
Later, the Air Force of Ukraine's armed forces wrote on Telegram that an enemy drone was detected in the suburbs of Kyiv.
"There are still several drones in the airspace over the capital. Do not leave your shelters," Klychko said.
