Russian attack on Lviv's historic district leaves 45 victims – mayor
The Russian assault on Lviv targeted the city's historic district, resulting in significant damage to numerous homes. Tragically, the number of victims rose to 45 citizens.
Lviv's Mayor, Andriy Sadovyi, Nataliia Matolinets, medical director of the First Medical Association of Lviv, and Maksym Kozytskyi, Lviv Regional Military Administration's head, reported this.
According to the regional military administration, the recent enemy attack on Lviv not only caused damage to residential buildings, but also to a locally significant architectural monument, namely the Regional Center for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation located on Konovaltsia Street.
The center is situated in the estate of Josefa Franz. According to official records, this structure was constructed in 1893, making it over 130 years old.
"Its historic building was damaged. More than 70 windows were broken. Frames were blown away by the shock wave. The ceiling collapsed in six offices. Batteries were torn off. Computers and medical equipment were destroyed," he said.
According to the city's mayor, over 50 buildings were damaged in total, with significant destruction occurring in Lviv's historic district.
"We already understand for sure that people will be evicted from these buildings. Two schools will not work today – many windows have been blown out. Two of our medical facilities have also been affected," Sadovyi said.
He noted that the number of victims has reached more than 35 people; several of them, including five children, are in serious condition.
In her turn, Matolinets mentioned that the number of victims in Lviv from the nighttime rocket attack has risen to 45, with seven of them being children.
"Currently, we already have 45 injured patients, including seven children; there are no seriously injured children," Matolinets said.
She said three hospitals have set up operating theaters, and traumatological medical teams are working. Currently, six operating theaters are dedicated to saving the lives of critical patients.

During the evening and early hours of September 4, Ukraine's territory was targeted by Russian aggressors with attack drones and various types of missiles. The western region of the country suffered the brunt of the attack, resulting in fatalities and injuries in Lviv, as well as casualties in Kryvyi Rih.
According to the military's report, Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine during the night of September 3 to 4.
On the evening of September 3, specifically, Russian troops initiated an assault with drones that were detected in Ukrainian airspace.
Around 2 a.m., the Russian occupiers sent five Tu-95MS strategic bombers into the sky. Several hours later, they fired cruise missiles over Ukraine, which were detected at 5 a.m.
At around 5 and 6 a.m., the Tu–22M3 and MiG–31K were airborne, while drones and missiles from the enemy were successfully intercepted over Ukraine.
As of the morning of September 4, more than 30 people were injured, and seven people died, including children, as a result of the Russian combined attack with missiles and UAVs in Lviv.
