Militarnyi reported this after attending the event "Protect a Soldier from a Drone."
What is the problem?
Ukraine's Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, announced plans to boost the production of defense systems against enemy drones. This will include measures such as radio-electronic warfare and ground unmanned platforms.
What is the solution?
A universal electronic warfare system was showcased at the "Protect a Soldier from a Drone" event. It boasts the ability to operate effectively up to 3-4 kilometers behind the front lines of combat. This complex can neutralize both aerial reconnaissance drones and kamikaze FPV drones.
"A robotic crawler platform is equipped with a universal EW system and can travel up to 3-4 kilometers beyond the front line of combat. It can counter both surveillance and attack drones, including FPV kamikaze drones," the company's CEO, Yaroslav Filimonov, describes the development.
How does it work?
According to the developers, this drone can cover groups of infantry in situations such as assault, evacuation, or demining operations.
With on-board equipment, one can use a directional antenna to both work and halt the UAV from 1-3 kilometers away.
Moreover, the updated "Volia-E" is equipped with a dome antenna that enables it to defend itself and a group of individuals.
The developers of the Brave1 cluster created the platform.
It can speed up to 12 kilometers per hour and carry up to 150 kilograms. Its size and weight make it simple to transport in the back of an SUV.
"The operator controls it remotely, being safe, at a distance of up to three kilometers. The robot rides on tracks, is compact and not heavy, and accelerates to a maximum 12 km/h speed. At the same time, it is easy to transport – in the trunk of an SUV," Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation, said.
According to the minister's report, the Ukrainian military currently utilizes the "Volia-E" platform. As a result, the soldiers of one brigade were able to evacuate over a hundred injured and deceased individuals.
Some could not have been removed using any other method. For instance, towards the end of last year, in a week of battles in the Donetsk area, the "Volia-E" platform successfully rescued around 20 injured soldiers.
For reference:
It is worth mentioning that the Solomandra robotic platform was trialed in Ukraine. This robot is designed to assist with demining.
The Ukrainian ground unmanned robot, Sirko-S1 MK2, has also successfully completed new tests.
