Solutions to win: Ukrainian defense company creates new thermal imaging camera for drones
The Ukrainian defense company Odd Systems is developing a new drone thermal imaging camera.
According to Militarnyi, Yaroslav Azhniuk, the co-founder of Odd Systems and CEO of The Fourth Law company, stated this.
What is the problem?
Ukraine, which has been at war with Russia since 2014, must strengthen its defense capabilities. In this modern era of warfare, where technology plays a crucial role, Ukraine has to focus on developing its drone production and equipment to ensure victory in the war.
Drones have become integral to military operations, providing real-time intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities. In a war-torn country like Ukraine, where logistical challenges and harsh terrain often hinder traditional ground forces, drones can be a game-changer. With their ability to cover vast areas and gather vital information, drones can significantly enhance Ukraine's defensive capabilities.
One critical component needed for drones is thermal cameras. These cameras provide a clear image of the battlefield, even in low-light conditions, making them invaluable tools for tracking enemy movements and identifying their positions. With thermal cameras equipped on drones, Ukraine's soldiers can better understand the enemy's activities, allowing them to plan and execute their operations more effectively.
What is the solution?
Odd Systems is a company that specializes in manufacturing FPV drones and their accompanying components.
"We will make thermal imaging cameras. They will be cheaper than their counterparts," Yaroslav Azhniuk said.
However, the project was delayed as one of the company's crucial employees, Yaroslav Azhniuk, was mobilized.
"They [thermal imaging cameras – ed.] will be ready one day in September," Yaroslav Azhniuk noted.
In February of this year, Yaroslav Azhniuk, co-founder of Petcube, announced the launch of Odd Systems, a new startup that will specialize in FPV drones.
One of the initial aspects of the startup was to create a thermal imaging camera specifically for nighttime flights.
According to Azhniuk, its cost will be $270 per unit in February, making it significantly more affordable than other available options.
He added that over time, this price would "decrease multiple times."
Odd Systems is well–versed in logistics, global sourcing, large-scale electronics production, quality control in manufacturing, raising capital, offering product discounts, managing growth, and conducting research and development to elevate technology to a higher standard.
For reference:
In addition, the German technology company Quantum Systems opened service training, support, and logistics centers in Ukraine.
Moreover, in 2023, the company opened a Research and Development Center in the country.
It should be noted that in January last year, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine ordered 105 Vector reconnaissance drones from the German company Quantum-Systems GmbH.
It was later revealed that the Ministry of Defense's Main Directorate of Intelligence would receive an additional 105 reconnaissance drones, known as the Vector, from the German company Quantum-Systems GmbH.
It was also reported that. These drones have already been tested in Ukraine, after which Kyiv will send the equipment to our military at the front.
In addition, Ukraine will receive 100 Trinity drones in various configurations from the German drone manufacturer Quantum-Systems.
