Russian strikes target orphanage and rehabilitation center in Sumy, toll of casualties rises
The number of victims in Sumy who were attacked by the Russians last night has risen to 18, including six children.

On the evening of September 1, Russia once again attacked the city of Sumy. The enemy hit the premises of the educational institution.
Specifically, the rocket attack took place at the site of the educational institution where the Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation for Children and the orphanage are situated.
The local military authorities clarified that the rocket struck a building in a residential neighborhood of the city.
All required services were on the scene, providing medical assistance to the people.

"We will never forgive our enemies for their crimes! They will be responsible for the tears of our children!" the message of the Sumy Regional Military Administration reads.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, six multi-apartment residential buildings, along with the orphanage and social-psychological rehabilitation center, were affected in Sumy.
The attack caused damage and a fire at the orphanage, but fortunately, rescuers were able to put out the flames.
The victims had no place to stay for the night. They expressed their readiness to stay at schools #7 and #22, kindergartens #22 and #23, Sumy Interregional University, and Sumy Vocational Center for Design and Services.

Just one day before, on August 30, the invaders conducted an airstrike on Sumy, claiming the lives of 2 individuals and causing 13 more to be injured.
It is worth mentioning that the officials from the Sumy region signed an order requiring the evacuation of 23 settlements across five communities.
Nearly 22,000 individuals have been evacuated from communities in the Sumy region.
