Ukrainian swimmers dominate at Paralympics with three more medal wins
At the Paralympics in Paris, Ukrainian swimmers Denys Ostapchenko, Andrii Trusov, and Serhii Palamarchuk won three additional medals—one gold, one silver, and one bronze.
Suspilne. Sport reports this.
Andrii Trusov recently won the silver medal in the 400 m freestyle event for the S7 class. He completed the race in an impressive time of 4 minutes and 40 seconds, making a remarkable achievement in the final 50 meters by surpassing his opponent from Argentina, Iñaki Basiloff, by just 0.1 seconds. Despite falling short to the victorious Italian Federico Bicelli, who secured the gold medal, Trusov was only two seconds behind.
Following his previous victory in the same event, Trusov won his second silver medal in the 200-meter individual medley at the current Paralympics. Unfortunately, he was disqualified in the 100-meter breaststroke final.
Afterward, Ukrainian athlete Denys Ostapchenko secured Ukraine's fourth gold medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games by first placing in the 50-meter backstroke in the S3 category. Serhii Palamarchuk, also from Ukraine, earned a bronze medal.
As a result, Ukraine ranks 11th in the medal table, with a total of 30 medals won.
