Russia strikes with Shahed UAVs and missiles, leaving drone wreckage and fires in Kyiv and Cherkasy
On the night of August 28, the Russian military deployed attack drones over Ukraine. Air defense was activated in the Kyiv region, and the debris of the Shahed drones fell in three districts of the capital. A house was damaged, and a gazebo caught fire. In Cherkasy, parts of the drone landed on a company's property, causing a fire.
The Air Force, Serhii Popko, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, and Ihor Taburets, the head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reported that on Telegram.
At 10:50 pm, the Russians launched the initial Shahed from Kherson towards the Mykolaiv region. Subsequently, news surfaced about the unmanned aerial vehicle heading west from north of the Sumy region.
Later, it was discovered that a high-speed target was headed towards the Kyiv region from the Chernihiv region, and a rocket was launched from the Sumy region towards Myrhorod, passing through the Poltava region.

He reported that emergency services were called to the Desniansky district, where, according to residents, the drone's debris fell. Units are heading to the location.
"In the Desniansky district, where the wreckage of the drone fell, a gazebo in a cottage town is on fire. Rescuers are on their way to the scene. No information about the victims has been received so far," the mayor of Kyiv wrote.
Popkov reported:
"Russian drones from the occupied Kherson region and Kursk region of Russia flew to Kyiv before midnight, at approximately 11:00 p.m."
The head of the KCMA also stated that the enemy Shahed drones had entered the capital in multiple waves and from various directions.
