Ukraine's PM Shmyhal and newly appointed Italian ambassador discuss demining, energy, and air defense strengthening
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and the newly appointed Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa, discussed organizing the Conference on the Restoration of Ukraine in 2025. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of prioritizing demining projects and developments in energy and logistics.

"I met with the newly appointed Italian ambassador to Ukraine, Carlo Formosa, and expressed my gratitude to Italy for supporting Odesa and its willingness to host the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine in 2025. It is essential for us to prioritize demining initiatives and energy and logistics development in the region," Shmyhal wrote.

The prime minister also expressed gratitude to Italy for its extensive support and particular attention to Ukraine while holding the G7 presidency.
"It was at the summit in Italy that the leaders of the G7 made a historic decision to transfer $50 billion in revenues from frozen Russian assets. We expect to receive these funds by the end of the year," the prime minister emphasized.
During the meeting, Shmyhal mentioned that they also covered topics related to the collaboration between Ukraine and Italy. These included:
- finances,
- strengthening air defense,
- energy matters,
- integration into the EU and NATO,
- as well as the peace formula,
- and restoration efforts.

The Ukrainian government's leader also expressed the best wishes for Formosa's successful diplomatic mission towards further developing and strengthening bilateral relations.

As reported, on July 16, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky received the credentials of the new ambassadors of Belgium, India, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Italy, and Mexico.
It is worth mentioning that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tajani, said that his country will provide Ukraine with a new aid package, which will allocate 140 million euros for the restoration of infrastructure.
Tajani also emphasized that Italy is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine.
As reported, Italy has confirmed the transfer of an additional SAMP/T anti-aircraft missile complex battery.
Moreover, the Ukrainian defenders also deployed Italian Puma armored personnel carriers.
