Solutions to win: Ukraine intensifies efforts to boost production of innovative "Palianytsia" drone-missile

Ukraine has created a new, cutting-edge drone-missile called "Palianytsia." During a briefing on Independence Day, President Volodymyr Zelensky proudly announced the first successful use of this weapon. The cost of this drone-missile is under 1 million dollars.
The Associated Press reported this, referring to the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov.
What is the problem?
As a nation facing ongoing war, Ukraine cannot afford to be left behind in the race for innovation. Ukraine must develop its drones and missiles, as they can play a significant role in ensuring the safety and success of its military forces.
One of the primary reasons Ukraine needs to develop its drones and missiles is to minimize casualties among service members during hostilities. These advanced technologies allow for effective reconnaissance, surveillance, and targeting of enemy positions, reducing the need for ground troops to advance into dangerous areas. This protects the lives of Ukrainian soldiers and improves the overall efficiency of military operations.
Secondly, not all of Ukraine's allies allow the country to utilize its weapons on Russian territory. This leaves Ukraine at a disadvantage in defending itself against Russian aggression. Developing its drones and missiles would provide Ukraine with a strategic advantage by giving it the capability to target Russian forces from a distance without having to rely on the support of other countries.
Moreover, developing its drones and missiles would enhance Ukraine's military self-sufficiency. During the full-scale war, Ukraine faced supply shortages and disruptions from traditional arms suppliers. By producing its own weapons, Ukraine could decrease its dependency on external sources and ensure a continuous supply of essential military equipment.
What is the solution?
Ukraine created the indigenous drone-missile "Palianytsia," which is priced at less than 1 million dollars.
"Fedorov said that each missile costs less than $1 million, and the military is addressing the private sector to reduce the cost of production further," the article said.
The minister stated that Ukraine is currently actively working to increase the production of its latest long-range weapon.
"I think it will radically change the situation, as we will be able to strike where Russia is not currently expecting," the government official noted.
At the same time, he did not disclose how many such drone missiles are already in service with Ukraine's armed forces.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation leader stressed that Ukrainian private enterprises have a keen ability to generate ideas and are currently the primary provider of drones, including maritime drones, for the Ukrainian military.
"Ukraine will have all types of missiles. If we have our own weapons, we will feel more confident and independent," the minister said.
He added that Russia's geographical size could be its vulnerability.
"It is impossible to produce enough air defense systems to protect such a huge territory. For us, this opens up opportunities to work deep in the enemy's rear," Fedorov concluded.

As reported, on August 24, during the Independence Day celebrations, Zelensky announced the first successful combat use of the Ukrainian missile-drone "Palianytsia."
The President noted that two dozen Russian military airfields are within range of the Ukrainian missile. The missile was developed quite swiftly in just a year and a half.
"Yesterday, the first successful combat use of our new weapon took place – the Ukrainian long-range missile-drone "Palianytsia." Our own forces developed it to destroy the offensive potential of the enemy.
There will be more missile drones, just as our long-range strike drones have increased, the results of which we see almost every day," the head of state said.
As Zelensky pointed out, the "Palianytsia" is launched using a ground platform powered by a turbojet engine.
"The cost of the missile-drone is much lower than its counterparts. And work on making it cheaper and increasing production continues," the president added.
The task of the Ukrainian missile is to protect the civilian population by destroying the offensive potential of the enemy on its territory.
During a press conference at the "Ukraine 2024. Independence" forum on August 27, Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine had successfully tested a ballistic missile of domestic production for the first time.
