Russian forces strike civilian building in Kryvyi Rih, killing two and injuring five, potential victims may be trapped under rubble

The Russian invaders launched a rocket at a civilian building in Kryvyi Rih late in the evening of August 26. It is reported that two people have died, and five have been injured. There is a possibility that people may be trapped under the debris.

The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Lysak, the head of the city's Defense Council, Oleksandr Vilkul, Suspilne, and the head of the Kryvyi Rih Regional Military Administration, Yevhen Sytnychenko, reported that.

At 23:21, the public reported explosions in Kryvyi Rih.

Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, confirmed the information on Telegram.

"The news is bad – details will be reported once the air raid is over. Everyone is already in position. Rescue and medical teams are working to save people," he wrote.

At 01:01, Serhii Lysak, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, announced that a civilian building had been struck.

As a result of the Russian attack, a woman was killed, and four people were injured.

According to Vilkul, five people may also be under the rubble.

"The rescue operation continues. All emergency, utility, and medical services are working," he added.

Shortly after, Yevhen Sytnychenko, the head of the Kryvyi Rih Regional Military Administration, reported that the death toll had risen to two. Furthermore, six individuals, including two children, sought psychological assistance.

The following has been damaged as a result of the Russian attack:

According to the regional military administration, as of this morning, the number of dead has not changed.

"Two people died as a result of a rocket attack on a hotel in Kryvyi Rih that happened at night. The victims were a woman and a man," Lysak wrote.

He noted that five people were injured.

"A 43-year-old woman is in serious condition in the hospital. A 37-year-old man is also hospitalized. He is in a moderate condition. Three more victims will recover at home," the head of the regional military administration added.

Lysak emphasized that the fate of two more people is unknown:

"They could probably be under rubble."

"The State Emergency Service climbers and dog handlers are collaborating with the rescuers on site. Additionally, the State Emergency Service psychologists offered support to 11 adults and two children," the message reads at 07:28.

In all, eight victims were injured in the district. According to the regional military administration, one person has passed away.

President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that the August 26 assault by Russia on Ukraine was one of the largest to date. Russia launched a total of 127 missiles and 109 kamikaze drones within Ukrainian borders, but thanks to Ukraine's air defense forces, 102 enemy missiles and 99 unmanned aerial vehicles were successfully intercepted and destroyed.
