Russian attack causes explosions in Kyiv and Kharkiv, industrial facility hit in Poltava region, and victims reported

On Monday morning, August 26, Kyiv was rocked by explosions. The capital's air defense is currently active. Kharkiv also experienced a series of explosions during heavy shelling from Russian forces. In the Poltava region, an industrial facility was hit as a result of an enemy air attack. There have been casualties reported in the region.

The press service of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA), Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, and the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, Filip Pronin, reported this.

Kyiv

Explosions in Kyiv were heard both on the right and on the left bank of the capital.

"The air raid alert continues! Air defense is operating in the region, on the approaches to Kyiv. Stay in shelters until the air alert goes off!" Serhiy Popko, head of the KCMA, said.

The air siren in the capital has been sounding for over two and a half hours now, with continuous blasts heard in Kyiv around 8:30 in the morning.

Kharkiv

Also, on August 26, a series of explosions rang out in Kharkiv during the massive shelling of the Russian Federation.

As Terekhov noted, the sounds of explosions could be heard in the city.

Later, at 08:09, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Synehubov, said, "The occupiers continue to strike Kharkiv."

Other details about the situation in the city have not been disclosed.

Poltava region

An industrial facility was hit in the Poltava region during today's enemy air attack on August 26. There have been casualties in the region as a result of the attack.

"The enemy targeted an industrial facility in Poltava region. Five people were injured," the head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration wrote on Telegram.

At the same time, the head of the regional military administration did not specify which object was impacted and in which district.

The official urged the residents to seek shelter amidst the widespread air alert.

"Do not disregard the air raid alarm. Remain in the shelter until the strike has passed!" he wrote.

Odesa

Explosions rang out in Odesa during an air raid. Residents of the city are asked not to leave safe shelters.

"Explosions are heard in Odesa! Please do not leave safe places!" Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, wrote on Telegram.

Earlier, Kiper reported on the missile danger in the region and emphasized the importance of seeking shelter until the air raid siren is activated.

Zaporizhzhia

In Zaporizhzhia, the Russian shelling blocked traffic temporarily at the Dnipro hydroelectric plant dam.

"Due to the security situation, traffic will be blocked at the Dnipro HPP dam for some time. Be safe!"  Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, said.

For reference:

This morning, August 26, Ukrainian authorities reported a major attack launched by Russian terrorists using both attack drones and cruise missiles. An air alert has been issued across the country in response.

Throughout the night, Ukraine's Air Force was alerted about the departure of ten Tu-95MS strategic bombers equipped with missiles. Specifically, the adversary deployed four vessels armed with Kalibr missiles to the Black Sea.

As of now, it is known that the explosions occurred in Vinnytsia and the Kropyvnytskyi (Kirovohrad region), Kharkiv, Odesa, Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi, Chernihiv regions and Kyiv.

Amid the intense shelling of Ukraine, Poland has mobilized its own and allied aviation forces.

It should be noted that on the night of August 25, the Russian occupation forces attacked several regions of Ukraine with missiles of various types and attack drones: the air defense forces managed to destroy almost all aerial targets.

Russian invaders hit Kharkiv and Chuhuiv. As a result of an enemy air attack, there were two hits, and a fire occurred at a gas furnace in the regional center, and the number of victims increased to six people.
