Ukraine launches modern system of military-patriotic education
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has made a significant move towards establishing a modern system of military-patriotic education by approving a new Concept. This initiative is intended to greatly enhance the motivation of current servicemen and potential recruits.
Rubryka reports this, citing the Ministry of Defense's Order No. 554/nm, dated August 14, 2024.
What is the problem?
As outlined in the appendix of the order, the development of the military-patriotic education concept within Ukraine's Ministry of Defense is driven by the urgent need for more effective mechanisms to strengthen the national and military-patriotic foundations of Ukrainian statehood and spiritual sovereignty, particularly in response to the ongoing armed aggression by the Russian Federation.
The future of Ukraine and the preservation of its independence are impossible without a fundamental reform of the military-patriotic education system for servicemen. This reform must focus on shaping informed citizens and defenders of an independent Ukraine.
The issue of military-patriotic education is crucial, as the future of our nation directly hinges on its resolution.
What is the solution?
"Military-patriotic education should serve as a powerful tool to motivate both current servicemen and those considering joining the army.
Additionally, implementing this concept will aid in developing the necessary social and cultural infrastructure. We must avoid relying on outdated approaches. Instead, we should focus on progressive experiences and the creation of an effective system of military-patriotic education," said Nataliia Kalmykova, Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine.
This concept forms the foundation for creating new regulatory documents that will guide the future development of military-patriotic education in Ukraine, ensuring the training of motivated and informed defenders of the state.
How does it work?
The new concept is designed not only to boost the motivation of active military personnel but also to attract potential recruits to serve in the Ukrainian army.
Deputy Defense Minister Kalmykova emphasized that the approval of this concept is just the first step towards creating an effective military-patriotic education system, one that is grounded in progressive experience and addresses modern challenges.
"The approval of this Concept is just the beginning. It will serve as the foundation for developing new regulatory documents, including a comprehensive strategy. Our goal is to create a modern education system based on best practices," Kalmykova stated.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has been tasked with developing the guiding documents necessary for implementing the military-patriotic education strategy within the Ministry's system. The Ministry will also be responsible for organizing and overseeing programs focused on military-patriotic education, ensuring their effective implementation at all levels of military administration.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is expected to play a pivotal role in the military-patriotic education of personnel, planning and organizing national-patriotic training sessions. The General Staff is also tasked with conducting activities aimed at enhancing the prestige of military service and encouraging military personnel to participate in these initiatives.
As a reminder, a center for national-patriotic education was recently opened in the Sikhiv district of Lviv, where schoolchildren from various educational institutions will receive training in military affairs and pre-medical assistance. The first of these centers was opened in the Halytskyi district of the city, and a total of 12 such centers are planned for the Lviv community.
As Rubryka reported, the war continues and is likely to persist for a long time. This means that over time, more civilians will be required to join the military. Consequently, many Ukrainians who are not currently involved in the military are already seeking out various preparatory schools and courses.
