Ukraine and India to advance cooperation in medicine, agriculture, humanitarian aid, and culture

Ukraine and India have agreed on four documents to enhance cooperation between the two nations. These documents cover areas such as healthcare, agriculture, humanitarian assistance, and culture.

According to RBC-Ukraine, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this during a meeting with India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"For today, we agreed with the side of today's guests. We agreed with India on four documents during this historic visit of Prime Minister Modi between Ukraine and India," the head of state said.

Zelensky clarified that these are the medical sphere, cooperation in the agricultural direction, humanitarian relations, and culture.

"And a joint statement has been prepared on the contents of the Prime Minister's visit and the development of strategic partnership between our countries, trade between our countries, and military-technical cooperation. All this should be strengthened," the President emphasized.

Ukraine and India have agreed on the following:

• A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers and the Indian Government for effectively implementing Indian humanitarian grant aid towards community development.

• An Agreement between the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers and the Indian Government for cooperation in the fields of agriculture and food industry.

• A cultural cooperation program for the years 2024-2028.

• A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ukrainian State Service for Medicines and Narcotics Control and the Central Inspection for Control of Medicines Standards of the Indian Ministry of Health.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Ukraine for an official visit, making him the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the country since it gained independence in 1991.

In addition, Bloomberg learned that India had agreed to relay messages between President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. However, Modi ruled out the possibility of becoming a mediator in ending the war.

At the same time, the Prime Minister of India himself, on the eve of the trip, called for the "restoration of peace" and announced that he would "share the prospects of ending Ukraine's war with Russia."

It is known that Zelensky and Modi will hold talks during which they will discuss issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Before that, the parties last met in June in Italy, where the "Big Seven" summit was held. Then, the President of Ukraine congratulated the Prime Minister of India on his victory in the elections, and the leaders also discussed the development of bilateral relations.

In addition, several documents are expected to be signed between Ukraine and India.

The media has also stated that Ukrainian state-owned company "Zoria" – "Mashproekt" is currently in discussions with Indian private companies to team up and manufacture gas turbines for military watercrafts.

The two countries also discussed India's production of aircraft and aircraft engines.

It should be noted that Modi's July visit to Moscow took place shortly after Russian artillery shelling killed more than three dozen people in Ukraine and severely damaged a children's hospital in Kyiv. Then Modi came to Russia for the first time in 5 years.

Then Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Modi for meeting with Putin. According to the Ukrainian president, "seeing how the leader of the world's largest democracy embraces the world's bloodiest criminal in Moscow on such a day" is "a huge disappointment."
