United to win: Denmark pledges $116 mln in military aid for Ukraine

Denmark has announced a new donation package worth about 783 million Danish kroner ($116 million) to support Ukraine's military needs.

The Danish government's press service reports this.

This package is aimed at meeting Ukraine's short-term and long-term defense needs.

The main funds will be directed to purchase new military equipment through the Ukrainian defense industry and international partners.

"(Russian dictator Volodymyr, – ed.) Putin continues his brutal and bloody attacks on Ukrainians. It is essential that Denmark continues to support Ukraine so that it can defend itself," Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said.

He stressed that this twentieth package of military assistance was developed considering Ukraine's desires and requirements and will be beneficial both in the short and long term.

One crucial aspect of the new aid package will be a 300 million kroner increase to the industrial pool in 2024, boosting the Ukrainian defense industry.

Additionally, 112 million kroner will be allocated to finance purchases through Ukrainian defense enterprises.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, noted that Copenhagen continues to be one of the most loyal supporters of Ukraine and has set an international standard of support for the country.

He emphasized that the new donation package will provide Ukraine with the necessary military equipment to resist the Russian Federation's aggression.

For reference:

Denmark has provided military support to Ukraine since the first days of the war and is constantly preparing new aid packages.

Earlier, Denmark and Germany handed Ukraine eight more Leopard 1A5 battle tanks as military aid.

Denmark has also volunteered to sponsor the production of Ukrainian 2S22 Bohdana self-propelled howitzers; the first 18 will already be delivered to the needs of the Defense Forces in the coming months.

The head of the Danish Ministry of Defense, Troels Lund Poulsen, emphasized that such agreements have obvious logistical advantages and contribute to the development of the Ukrainian defense industry.

In total, the Danish government allocated 200 million Danish kroner ($28.5 million) to purchase Ukrainian weapons and military equipment directly from Ukrainian manufacturers for Ukraine's armed forces.

This decision is a first in history and is expected to set a precedent for other countries. This is precisely what Ukraine has been requesting from its allies in recent months.
