Two-time Olympic champion Olha Kharlan has put up for charity auction the saber she used to deliver the winning stab in the final of the team tournament of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The auction for the sale of the saber was announced by the Serhiy Prytula Charitable Foundation,

What is the problem?

One of the first Ukrainian robotic developments used in the war was the Shablya automatic turret.

It is a unique development by a team of Ukrainian engineers, which is an automated remote-controlled fire system designed for stationary installation on fixed objects or special vehicles.

It works effectively both from trenches and dugouts and during transportation in a pickup truck. The soldier coordinates the fire using a remote control, camera, and control monitor at a distance of 100 meters from the installation. The turret itself is capable of precision fire at a distance of up to 1,200 meters.

In January 2024, Ukraine contracted for the first time at the state level for the remote-controlled combat modules of domestic production. The armed forces are already using these robotic turrets at the front.

What is the solution?

Olha Kharlan put her saber, which she used to deliver the winning stab in the final of the team tournament of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, up for charity auction.

All proceeds from the auction will be used to purchase ShaBlya automated turrets.

How does it work?

One can compete for the prize from the Olympic champion on August 15 at 19:00 on Serhii Prytula's Facebook and Youtube pages.

The owner of the largest donation will have a "Coffee with Olha Kharlan" meetup.

Ukraine's saber-fencing champion is now the most awarded athlete in the country's history of independence. Kharlan won Ukraine its first medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, winning bronze in the individual saber tournament.

Ukraine's National Olympic Committee recognized her as the best athlete of the year four times (2008, 2009, 2016, 2017). Kharlan was also recognized as the best athlete of the month thirteen times, a record for Ukrainian athletes.
