Ukrainian soldiers use drone to take down Russian helicopter in Kursk region

In the Kursk region of Russia, the Ukrainian Security Service's military successfully shot down another helicopter using an FPV drone.

As noted, the Russian helicopter was hit by fighters of the Special Operations Center "A" of the Security Service of Ukraine.

The video shows how a security service drone hits an aircraft at the moment of its flight.

Other details of the damage are not currently disclosed; however, judging by the video, the helicopter was hit in the tail.

It should be noted that earlier, Ukrainian defense forces shot down another enemy helicopter with a drone.

The spokesperson for the media remarked that this was an "unprecedented event in the history of warfare," as a Russian Mi–28 helicopter was targeted by an FPV drone while in flight.

On the morning of August 6, information appeared on Russian Telegram channels that Ukrainian defenders allegedly broke through the border and entered the territory of the Kursk region.

Later on, it was revealed that the Russian Defense Ministry chose to relocate reserves to the border region in the Kursk area in response to the reported "advance of Ukrainian troops" there.

The leader of the Kursk region declared on August 7 that the region "for the last day has heroically resisted the attacks of the Ukrainian Nazis." All emergency services within the region are now operating in an intensified manner. Additionally, hospitals in the border areas are restocking their donated blood supplies.

According to Russian propagandists and self-proclaimed "military bloggers," Ukrainian troops have allegedly crossed into the Kursk region of Russia and have taken positions in the border area.

The head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin, for the first time, commented on the situation in the Kursk region, where the Russian local authorities reported the breakthrough of Ukrainian troops. The dictator of the Russian Federation called it a "large-scale provocation" on the part of Ukraine.

The authorities of the Kursk region decided to declare a state of emergency on August 7. The reason is the fighting in the area after the "breakthrough" of the border.

According to the Agentstvo publication, the Russian government has claimed on six separate occasions that the advancing Ukrainian military has stopped or even retreated since the breakthrough in the Kursk region. This is despite the combat zone increasing to 430 km² and reports of Ukraine's armed forces gaining almost total control of the city of Sudzha.

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian "military bloggers" have provided evidence through geolocation footage and statements that Ukrainian forces are located in areas approximately 35 kilometers from the border between the Sumy region and the Kursk region of Russia. However, the Ukrainian troops do not have control over the entire territory.

According to the Washington Post, Ukraine now controls the Sudzha gas measuring station, located approximately 8 kilometers deep into Russia.
