Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, started his fourth African tour, which will last from August 4 to 8. As part of this visit, he will visit three African countries, Malawi, Zambia, and Mauritius, for the first time as the head of the Foreign Ministry.

Rubryka writes about this by referring to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service.

The ministry noted that this trip is part of Ukraine's active foreign policy, which aims to strengthen international ties and develop bilateral relations with African states.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the main topics of the negotiations will be:

  • development of bilateral relations,
  • the involvement of African countries in the process of restoring a just peace in Ukraine.

Food safety and technology

The focus will be on food security issues in Malawi, in particular. Kuleba plans to discuss the exchange of experience and technologies in the field of agriculture and the Grain From Ukraine humanitarian program, which aims to support countries in the fight against the food crisis.

Bilateral relations and international cooperation

In Zambia, the main focus will be on developing bilateral relations and cooperation within the framework of international organizations. The minister will hold talks with local leaders and diplomats to identify new opportunities for cooperation and support in the international arena.

Attracting investments in the restoration of Ukraine

Mauritius, one of Africa's most developed economies, will be a platform to discuss investment attraction issues. Particular attention will be paid to the participation of Mauritian businessmen in the reconstruction and restoration of Ukraine.

Kuleba plans to find new opportunities for economic cooperation and attracting financial resources to support the country's recovery.

This tour emphasizes the importance of Ukraine's interaction with African countries and contributes to deepening international relations in the context of global challenges and needs.

What is known about Kuleba's trips to Africa

As Rubryka wrote, in May, Kuleba went on his second tour of African countries. The purpose of the visits was, in particular:

  • involvement of states in Zelensky's peace formula;
  • enlisting support for the "grain corridor";
  • creation of new opportunities for Ukrainian businesses.

We will remind that Ukraine has already agreed with Mozambique, Rwanda and Ghana on the opening of diplomatic institutions.

The authorities have identified 10 African countries where new Ukrainian embassies will be opened in 2023.

According to Kuleba, this is part of the strategy of developing relations with African countries and countering Russian influence worldwide. Expanding the diplomatic presence will also open new opportunities for the Ukrainian state, businesses, and citizens.

It is worth adding that during the first-ever visit to Rwanda, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Vincent Biruta, in the capital, Kigali, and announced the opening of an embassy in the country.
