Explosions ring out in Crimea, occupation authorities claim “shooting down” of drones and ATACMS missiles

On the night of August 2, explosions rang out in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol. Local authorities report the downing of ATACMS missiles, and some monitoring groups suggest that a Russian air defense unit may have been targeted. 

Mikhail Razvozhaev, the head of the occupation administration of Sevastopol, reported the rocket attack.

According to him, the supposedly shot-down rocket's explosive portion landed on the roof of the 9th floor, causing it to break through the roof and become lodged on the technical floor. None of the residents in the building were harmed.

Razvozhaev said that residents are being evacuated from the building, pyrotechnics will work there.

According to the Crimean Wind monitoring channel, a military air defense unit near Balaklava could have been under attack in Crimea. Satellite imagery further supports this. The timing of 1:57-2:20 also aligns with the reported attack on Sevastopol.

At the same time, Crimean Wind draws attention to the fact that a fire can occur "both after missile launches and after hits."

Officially, the Ukrainian side did not comment on this incident.

On the night of July 26, explosions rang out in the Ukrainian Crimea, temporarily occupied by Russian troops: they were heard in the Yevpatoria and Novofedorivka areas, where the Saky military airfield of the Russian army is located, as well as in Simferopol.

According to the Crimean Wind source, the Saky airfield was on fire, with detonation being heard. Ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

According to OSINT resources, at least 16 enemy aircraft were stationed at this airfield, including Su-30SM and Su-24.
