Rebuilding Ukraine: UNDP and Belgium team up to provide €9 mln for Ukraine's green energy recovery
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) announced the signing of a EUR 9 million financial agreement with the Belgian government to support the green recovery of Ukraine's energy sector.
UNDP in Ukraine reported that.
As noted, the financing from Belgium aims to solve the urgent needs of Ukraine's energy sector, which arose due to the war. The funds will be used to repair and restore critically important energy facilities in the country.
"Belgium firmly stands by Ukraine in these difficult times. Our support for the UNDP Green Energy Recovery Program is a testament to solidarity and a shared vision of a stable and sustainable future for all Ukrainians," Belgian Ambassador to Ukraine Peter Van de Velde said.
The Permanent Representative of UNDP, Jako Silje, emphasized the importance of this investment for the recovery of Ukraine's energy sector and strengthening its sustainability.
The proposed partnership activities will focus on cities such as Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa, where the need for efficient energy solutions is most pressing.
By deploying backup generation systems and improving local energy infrastructure, UNDP aims to increase access to essential services such as heating, electricity, and clean water.

As Rubryka previously reported, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a bilateral Agreement on cooperation in security and long-term support with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo during his visit to Brussels.
Belgium will allocate at least 977 million euros for military aid to Ukraine this year. This document enshrines this obligation and the readiness to provide support to Ukraine during the ten-year term of the agreement.
