The project named Cosmogony brings together various forms of art, including painting, graphics, sculpture, and performance. The main focus of the artwork is to depict the formation of humanity and speculate on its potential future.
The idea of the Cosmogony project belongs to Viktor Korsak, the founder of the Korsak Museum of Modern Ukrainian Art. The picture tells about the history of mankind, starting from the moment of the Big Bang and ending with the picturesque noosphere and the future.
"It will be such an aesthetic, philosophical treatise about where we started, why we are here, and what will happen to us," Korsak explains.
The picture also conveys the idea of the struggle between good and evil in every person and the mission of humanity to save our planet.
Visitors have the unique opportunity to witness the creation of a painting as the artist brings it to life right here in the museum. The museum's expansive 5,000 square-meter hall is dedicated to hosting the art project's production process.
For reference:
Petro Antyp is an experienced artist with a distinct vision. Originally from the Donetsk region, he had the chance to stay in Moscow but chose to come back to Ukraine.
This choice proved to be successful as he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine in 2009, and his works have been featured in both government and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
However, the artist's life changed after the Russian invasion in 2014, when he was forced to leave his workshop in Horlivka. Having moved to Kyiv, he became a migrant again in 2022.
"For me, Ukraine is my home. Lutsk sheltered me, I am very grateful for that. I don't know what will happen next. I will just paint and work," Antyp says.
The artist sells his canvases at auctions in Ukraine and Europe and donates the proceeds to medicine for Ukraine's armed forces.
The Cosmogony art project has already been presented in Germany and the USA, and its author hopes that more people will see this unique work. Cosmogony has every chance to become the longest performance in the world.
The canvas is 10 meters high and 200 meters wide.
The painting's future is to travel the planet so that as many people as possible can become acquainted with the deep meanings embedded in this work. The canvas has every chance to enter the Guinness Book of Records.
