Ukraine plans to establish five state-of-the-art rehabilitation centers with partners’ support

Thanks to the support of Ukraine's partners, five state-of-the-art rehabilitation centers equipped with the latest technologies are planned to be established.

Deputy Minister of Defense Nataliia Kalmykova announced this during the 1st Annual International Congress on Military Medicine and Mental Health.

In discussing the plans for developing the rehabilitation system, Kalmykova also mentioned the Recovery project, which will facilitate the construction of a hospital that meets all standards.

"Additionally, there is a pilot project for rehabilitation currently in progress, where we are working towards identifying strategies for predicting individuals' likelihood of returning to the military or transitioning to civilian life based on their health," she added.

According to the deputy minister, all these projects will allow the creation of an effective system of rehabilitation of military personnel, which would meet the best international standards.

The official emphasized that the task of the ministry is to "ensure the possibility to trace and record the entire path of the wounded."

As she explained, this will allow to take better care of the person, because at each stage of treatment, the specialist can get information about the previous steps of assisting.

It will also allow the creation of an effective system that will enable better allocation of resources at the state level.

"The method of solving this task is the maximum digitization of the entire process of the injured person's stay in the medical system," Kalmykova emphasized.

As she noted, Western partners point out that in Ukraine, "a very high percentage of servicemen today receive high-quality rehabilitation services and return to the ranks."

Rehabilitation is implemented both in civilian and military institutions; it begins immediately after the start of treatment of the wounded.

"Today, almost every healthcare facility has multidisciplinary teams engaged in rehabilitation. Its basis is high-class specialists who create all the conditions for the rapid recovery of a serviceman," the deputy minister said.

It should be noted that Ukraine has a high rate of return of servicemen to the ranks after undergoing rehabilitation. This is more than 75% of soldiers after being wounded of various degrees of severity.

As Rubryka previously reported, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov outlined the country's plans and tasks in the field of medical care for Ukrainian soldiers, which includes the opening of a modern Reintegration Center to support servicemen released from captivity and the implementation of an effective rehabilitation system to help return to service after injuries.
