What is the problem?
The war has forced over 17 million people to flee, with 67% being women. These individuals are now in highly precarious situations, facing challenges such as insecurity, financial instability, multiple dislocations, and a shortage of affordable housing options.
In 2023, the NGO "Tak Shtab" conducted a study entitled "Ukrainian Mothers amid Full-Scale War: Factors of Vulnerability and Changing Dynamics." Through this research, they discovered the main challenges that Ukrainian women currently confront. One significant finding was that 23% of the women surveyed had moved residences more than three times during the full-scale invasion.
What is the solution?
Taktion is a program designed to assist women in developing resilience and coping skills to face challenges in the long term. It includes mental health counseling, training in adaptability and employment, building social connections, and promoting democratic leadership in communities. This is the program's third iteration, and over 100 women have already completed it, with a 94% interest in participating again.
The program is free. One can find more detailed information about the project by clicking the link.
How does it work?
In the first three months, the program aims to provide women with:
Improvement of women's skills and knowledge in local democratic governance and women's leadership, as well as strengthening of employment skills, media literacy, and career opportunities, are also envisaged.
For reference:
The project was developed by the teams of the analytical center of the NGO Institute of Constructive Journalism and New Media, the humanitarian center of the NGO Tak Shtab, and Yuliia Pavlova, the developer of programs to support IDP women.
The project is supported by the "U-LEAD with Europe" Program, which the European Union and its member states, Germany, Poland, Denmark, and Slovenia, jointly finance.
According to reports, in Ukraine, the war has drastically impacted the lives of millions of people, making the topic of grief particularly pertinent. However, many individuals are still uncomfortable openly discussing or addressing this issue. Unfortunately, society often overlooks or fails to fully acknowledge the importance of the grieving process, which can significantly affect mental well-being. As a result, the Charity Fund campaign "Right to Defense" provides various forms of support and self-help for those in need.
It should be noted that the Ukrainian Veterans Fund announced new recruitment to the therapeutic group for those who need psychological support due to the war.
