Ukraine welcomes back 12 children to its controlled territory
It was possible to repatriate an additional twelve Ukrainian citizens from the occupied territory.
The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, reported that on Telegram.
"We managed to return 12 Ukrainian children to the Motherland! The children, together with their relatives, lived in the temporarily occupied territories [TOT – ed.] – in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions. Fortunately, now they are already in the territory controlled by Ukraine," he informed.

According to the ombudsman, every family had their own unique experience dealing with the chaos caused by the occupying "powers." They described being forced to obtain Russian passports and shared how doctors even refused to treat children with severe congenital conditions that required specialized care.
At the same time, parents are offered to send their children to "rehabilitation," which often means deportation or forced relocation.
"According to the returnees, the Russians at the TOT detain, beat, torture with electric currents, exert psychological pressure on adults, and interrogate children without the presence of their parents and also use torture methods. They regularly conduct baseless searches in residents' homes," Lubinets noted.

The official shared that he was impressed by the story of the returned boy who, planning his future, left TOT because he wanted to become a Ukrainian rescuer and get an education at a dream institution of higher education.
The commissioner emphasized that it was the feeling of disenfranchisement, limitations, and awareness of what kind of future awaits the children that motivated families to leave for the territory controlled by Ukraine.
"Families have already visited our Center for the Protection of Children's Rights. A competent multi-functional team spoke with them and recorded the crimes they witnessed or were victims of," he assures.
Lubinets said that Ukraine is always ready for everyone's return and will provide essential humanitarian, medical, psychological, social, and other assistance.

Japan joined the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
Also, the United States of America officially became a member state of the coalition, which advocates for the safe return to Ukraine of children illegally deported and displaced by the Russian Federation during the war.
