Solutions from Ukraine: Lviv to create rehabilitation garden for war-affected military personnel and their families

In Lviv, plans are underway to construct a garden for the rehabilitation of military personnel, their families, and children who have been affected by the war. Members of the Partnership Foundation discussed the concept of creating this garden within the city.
The Lviv City Council reported this.
What is the problem?
"Now, it is important for us to develop rehabilitation, which is not only physical but also mental. The importance of natural therapeutic rehabilitation is difficult to overestimate," the city council mentioned.

Therefore, creating an open garden with various activities for families will help speed up the adaptation and recovery of Ukrainian defenders.
Therefore, in Lviv, they plan to build a garden for the rehabilitation of military personnel, their relatives, and children who suffered from the aggression of the Russian Federation.

"This territory has huge potential, incredible nature, and a plus in that the necessary infrastructure exists. The necessary conditions and a good basis for implementing such a project have been prepared," Myroslav Kundrata, strategic director of the Partnership Foundation, said.

How does it work?
Officials in Lviv are considering a new project based on a garden in Brno, Czech Republic. This space would feature a variety of ecological and educational activities for both children and adults.
At this location, one can rent beds for growing vegetables or space for events. Additionally, an energy-efficient building with a green roof is available for rent as office space or for hosting conferences.

In Lviv, plans are to incorporate the garden into the Unbroken ecosystem at the "Nursery" area within "Zalizna Voda" park. Additionally, efforts will be made to revive the historical greenhouses built by Röhring's students in this spot.
In addition, the city council says there are many institutions nearby that may become stakeholders in the project in the future, including:
- school for visually impaired children,
- children's ecological and naturalistic center,
- the Franko and Hrushevsky museums,
- Academy of Arts and Ukrainian Catholic University.
Also nearby, a music school is being prepared for opening, and a medical institution for palliative medicine is being reconstructed.

"That is, it is a place where educational and cultural events could also be held in a different format, and horticulture could be developed within the urban space. This is a new format for Lviv to adapt green areas for various needs of people, in particular the rehabilitation of military personnel and their relatives," the city council added.
