Solutions to win: Ukrainian developers create revolutionary EW system to eliminate Russian drones

Ukrainian engineers and programmers are gearing up to showcase cutting-edge technologies for safeguarding military equipment against drones and missiles that could potentially alter the dynamics of warfare.

KVERTUS and Piranha Tech shared their advanced developments in radio-electronic warfare (EW) with the media outlet Focus.

What is the problem?

Amid a large-scale war in Ukraine, drones have emerged as a critical offensive tool, making it essential for the military to develop effective countermeasures.

"A non-protected armored jeep is an easy target that can quickly be hit, requiring repair or being ultimately destroyed," Yaroslav Filimonov, CEO of KVERTUS, commented.

Therefore, Ukrainian engineers and programmers from Ukraine prepare to transfer military technologies that should become "game changers" during the war.

How does it work?

Yaroslav Filimonov's leadership has solidified KVERTUS as a top manufacturer of EW products in Ukraine.

The manufacturer's peculiarity is that the entire line of means is in service in Ukraine's armed forces; all of them are codified according to NATO standards.

The company supplies its developments to:

• Ukraine's armed forces,
• National Guard,
• National Police,
• Security Service of Ukraine and other structures.

KVERTUS recently signed an agreement with Ukrainian Armor, a manufacturer of armored vehicles such as the "Novator" armored vehicle and the "Bohdana" self-propelled howitzer, to ensure the completion of all these vehicles.

KVERTUS is always striving to develop new tools. Over the past year and a half, the developers have explicitly focused on improving their electronic reconnaissance tool, the KVERTUS MS Azimuth. According to Yaroslav Filimonov, it is currently the top device in its category for detecting drones, not just compared to other Ukrainian models but also when compared to international ones.

"In the fall, we will launch the KVERTUS MS RANGER, a tool boasting improved precision, an upgraded antenna feeder solution, and an extended range. This highly sophisticated device will be networked and transmit real-time data to all our warfare systems, including Graphite," the head of the company stated. "We were at the testing site yesterday, trying out some new radio-electronic intelligence methods in specific conditions. It's a confidential special project at the moment, but it will soon become a game changer on the battlefield for drones and pilots. I'm not at liberty to share any information yet and may never be able to, but it's an incredibly impactful special project."

Piranha Tech also offers powerful EW systems that can create radio interruptions and overlap large sectors.

According to Anatoliy Khrapchinsky, the company's deputy director, their generators can be used for both large systems and mobile decisions. Piranha Tech offers systems that can close distances from 5 to 20 kilometers and identify and neutralize enemy drones and rockets.

It should be noted that the technological startup "Antidrone Ukraine" presented a new portable system of radio-electronic warfare (EW) for the Defense Forces of Ukraine. A compact and lightweight device weighing only 10 kilograms (without a battery) is able to work autonomously from 2 to 5 hours.
