Over 400 female POWs are in Russian captivity
Ukraine is negotiating with the Russian Federation to arrange an exchange of Ukrainian female prisoners of war.
Rubryka writes about this, referring to the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmytro Lubinets.
"We repeatedly raised the issue. I personally communicated with Moskalkova (Tetiana Moskalkova, ombudsman of the Russian Federation —ed.) to organize a separate exchange for the return of women in particular," Lubinets said.
The ombudsman added that representatives from the United Arab Emirates help organize such an exchange.
"Two categories that are a priority for return: seriously wounded prisoners of war and women. According to our information, more than 400 Ukrainian women in the status of prisoners of war remain in Russian captivity," Lubinets added.
As the Ukrainian official noted, this could be the second such large-scale exchange of female prisoners of war, but he did not provide details.
We will remind you that, in total, more than 14,000 Ukrainian civilians are forcibly held captive by the Russians. It is very difficult to return them, unlike military personnel or children.
What is known about the last exchange of prisoners
As Rubryka reported, 90 defenders returned to Ukraine from Russian captivity on June 25.
On June 28, it was possible to return ten more Ukrainian civilians from Russian captivity, among them Nariman Dzhelyal, the deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
Ukraine's president showed a sensitive video about the return of Ukrainian citizens on social networks.
Ukrainian intelligence also revealed the details of the latest exchange of prisoners with Russia. It consisted of two stages, during which 90 soldiers and 10 civilians were returned. The fact that non-military Ukrainians are held in Russian captivity testifies to the genocidal nature of Russia's war against Ukraine.
