New Zealand will provide Ukraine with $10 mln aid package
At the NATO summit in Washington, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon announced a new support package for Ukraine.
Rubryka reports that Vasyl Miroshnychenko, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Australia and New Zealand, stated this in a Facebook post.
According to Luxon's statement, New Zealand will provide NZ$16 million in aid, equivalent to $9.8 million.
This aid will include both military and humanitarian component. In particular:
- $3.68 million for military aid,
- $6.12 million dollars for humanitarian aid.
The military aid includes $2.45 million for the "drone coalition" led by Great Britain and Latvia and $1.23 million for Ukraine's military medical needs.
Aid from New Zealand and its position on Russia
Since the beginning of Russia's brutal and unprovoked aggression against Ukraine, New Zealand has demonstrated its strong support for the Ukrainian people.
In 2022, New Zealand decided to join the training of the Ukrainian military in Britain.
In February 2023, the New Zealand government extended and extended visas offered to Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion.
Also, in the summer of 2013, the New Zealand government introduced tough sanctions against the Russian Federation and Belarus, freezing Russian-related assets.
In addition, Wellington imposed sanctions on 100 Russian citizens. Those persons who support the regime of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin or are involved in crimes against Ukraine have not been able to enter the territory of New Zealand.
On February 22, New Zealand announced a new $25.9 million aid package for Ukraine.
New Zealand continues to provide significant financial and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. In February 2024, an additional aid package of NZ$25.9 million (equivalent to US$16.9 million) was announced.
In February and May, New Zealand imposed sanctions on individuals and legal entities providing military-strategic support to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
