Ukraine and Luxembourg sign security agreement

At the same time, the parties agreed that military assistance from Luxembourg would be used only in accordance with international law and international humanitarian law.

Although Luxembourg has taken a leading role in the IT coalition and contributes to the air defense and artillery coalition to assist Ukraine, the country has determined that it can expand its participation in other coalitions.

In addition, the agreement stipulates that in the event of a future armed attack on Ukraine, the parties will hold consultations within 24 hours regarding Ukraine's needs for self-defense.

Under these circumstances, Luxembourg will provide Ukraine with military and economic support and advocate imposing sanctions on the aggressor.

What is known about Ukraine's security guarantees

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal noted that Ukraine has already signed 21 security agreements with allies, particularly the EU and the USA. According to these agreements, in the next four years, international partners plan to provide Ukraine with total military support of $60 billion annually.

In addition to the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland and Poland joined the list of partners ready to provide support in the event of aggression against Ukraine.

Poland is one of the last to sign the Agreement. On July 8, Kyiv and Warsaw signed a bilateral agreement on security guarantees.

For the first time among the already signed bilateral documents, it foresees the possibility of intercepting missiles and drones in the airspace of Ukraine launched in the direction of Poland.

Also, for the first time, the Ukrainian Legion will be created, which will train the Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces personnel on Polish territory. Citizens of Ukraine who are temporarily in Poland and other countries will be able to join it.
