Solutions from Ukraine: clothing brand Buddu launches charity line to support mental health recovery for war-affected people

The Ukrainian clothing brand Buddu has just launched a charity collection called "Nezlamna Mentalochka" ["Unbreakable Mental Health" in English]. All profits from the sales will be donated to help support mental health recovery and those suffering from mental disorders related to war.

Buddu reports this on its website.

What is the problem?

For over 2 years now, Ukraine has been in a full-scale war with Russia, resulting in an increase in mental health issues among its people. The consistent stress, bombings, and air attacks have taken a toll on the well-being of individuals.

As noted on the brand's website, mental health is a critically important aspect of a person's overall well-being. War leaves deep wounds not only on the body, but also on the soul.

"People who have gone through the horrors of war often face long-term psychological problems that require professional help.

Supporting the mental health of veterans, IDPs and other affected persons is not only an act of humanity, but also a necessary condition for the recovery and integration of these people into a peaceful life," they noted.

What is the solution?

The Ukrainian oversize clothing brand Buddu released a charity drop "Unbreakable Mentalochka."

Proceeds from the sale will go to the Unbroken Center for psychological recovery from PTSD, depression, panic attacks and war-related eating disorders.

How does it work?

"The goal of the project is to support those who need psychological help, in particular, veterans, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other people affected by military operations. We aim to draw attention to the importance of mental health, which is often overshadowed by physical injuries, but has an equally significant impact on people's lives," the site emphasized.

The funds will go to:

  • individual and group therapy,
  • support of crisis centers,
  • initiatives aimed at improving the mental health of victims.

The drop consists of unisex t-shirts in four colors:

  • black,
  • white,
  • pink,
  •  graphite boiled knitwear.

The collection also includes shopping bags with the inscription "Nezlamna Mentlochka" in black and red.

The filming occurred at the Unbroken rehabilitation center, where the heroes were doctors and military personnel, as well as their spouses who had endured the horrors of war.

The brand's website noted that:

  • soldier Mykola Ilchenko lost his leg during a combat mission. He wanted to take the wounded soldier, but came across a mine.

  • Nataliia is the wife of a soldier who lost a limb and is undergoing rehabilitation and prosthetics in Unbroken. She and her husband found out that Natalya was pregnant already when he went to the front.
