United to win: Yale professor Jason Stanley donates $20,000 to train Ukrainian defenders

Renowned American philosopher and Yale University professor Jason Stanley recently donated $20,000, which he earned as an honorary professor at the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE), to the Come Back Alive Army Competent Assistance Fund. This generous contribution will support the Yatagan Training School for Unmanned Aviation Complex Specialists.

Rubryka writes about it.

Professor Stanley is a philosopher who specializes in propaganda, fascism, and authoritarianism. He has written five books, including "How Fascism Works: The Politics of 'Us' and 'Them'" and "How Propaganda Works." Additionally, he contributes to The New York Times, The Washington Post, and other publications, covering topics such as freedom of speech and mass incarceration.

"I am investigating the threat of fascism. I came to Ukraine because it is a democracy that was attacked by a fascist terrorist state. Democracy needs universities like the Kyiv School of Economics to thrive. But democracy also needs to survive. That's why I'm donating the funds to Come Back Alive. They play a decisive role in the fight for the survival of Ukrainian democracy," Jason Stanley.

Jason Stanley presented the certificate with the contribution to Oleh Karpenko, Deputy Director of Come Back Alive, on May 21, during the professor's last lecture at KSE.

"One of the top priorities for Come Back Alive is training highly skilled military specialists. However, it is essential for us to train individuals and develop the necessary capabilities within the army. Currently, we are assisting in establishing the Yatagan Air Defense School within Ukraine's armed forces. We are raising 33 million hryvnias to support this initiative. The donations will be used to equip training facilities, flight simulators, UAV repair workshops, and purchase training materials," Oleh Karpenko says.

It should be noted that the Yatagan school is being formed on the basis of one of Ukraine's armed forces training centers. It already has an approved training program and methodical materials developed in cooperation with Come Back Alive specialists, professional instructors, and teaching staff with combat experience.

As the Yatagan school is a component of Ukraine's armed forces, pilots will acquire new skills and gain a military accounting specialization. This will allow them to hold a corresponding role officially within the unit.

The Command of the Ground Forces of Ukraine's armed forces and Come Back Alive have formed a partnership agreement to collaborate on projects focusing on training UAV specialists. The Foundation's involvement in establishing the Yatagan school was the initial project under this cooperation.
