Rebuilding Ukraine: Germany sends Ukraine much-needed equipment for repairing energy infrastructure
More special repair tools, coordinated by the Ministry of Energy, have arrived in Ukraine. Two Mercedec-Benz Arocs trucks equipped with a crane for working on power grids were given to energy workers during a meeting between Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Hrynchuk and German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jäger.
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that.
This is one of sixteen units of specialized equipment, valued at 2.3 million euros, that GIZ acquired through the Ukrainian-German Energy Partnership with the help of a fundraising and procurement campaign.
Some of the cars have already been delivered to Ukraine and are helping the energy companies of the Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Ternopil regions. The distribution system operators in the Zaporizhzhia and Cherkasy regions will receive the rest of the vehicles, and additional equipment units will go to the Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions.
"Germany is our reliable partner. The country is the largest donor to the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, created at the initiative of the Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Herman Halushchenko, and the European Commissioner for Energy Affairs, Kadri Simson. The country's contribution to the Fund is more than 275 million euros. The fundraising and procurement campaign within the Ukrainian-German Energy Partnership is also significant. The trucks that our energy workers will receive will help to quickly carry out repairs, which will increase the reliability of electricity supply in the regions," Svitlana Hrynchuk said.
Martin Jäger, in turn, emphasized:
"Our support comes from the bottom of our hearts – it is concrete and strong. From the beginning of the war until 2022, the German government has purchased and delivered energy goods worth more than 12 million euros within the framework of the Ukrainian-German Energy Partnership, including these repair trucks. In addition, transformers, generators, and solar panels provided by German companies have also been delivered and are now providing electricity to more than 550,000 people in Ukraine. We stand side by side with Ukraine."
During the meeting, the areas of cooperation for increasing the capacities of distributed generation in Ukraine before the beginning of next winter and the results of the recently held Conference on the restoration of Ukraine in Berlin were also discussed.

Since March 2022, Ukraine has received 120 shipments of humanitarian aid from Germany for the energy sector, totaling more than 1,670 tons, including transformers, generators, cables, fittings for overhead lines, and other equipment necessary for restoration work.
As reported earlier by Rubryka, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine coordinated the transfer of a new round of aid as part of the Ukrainian-German energy partnership. This aid included three large power transformers, each with a capacity of 40,000 kVA, to power distribution network nodes and 16 pieces of specialized equipment.
