United to win: American company Northrop to manufacture medium-caliber ammunition in Ukraine
The US-based military contractor Northrop Grumman Corporation plans to manufacture medium-caliber ammunition in Ukraine.
Breaking Defense reported this.
Speaking to journalists, the company representative said that this will happen as part of the Northrop joint production agreement, the first publicly recognized agreement between the US Secretary of Defense and the Ukrainian government.
"We, as you know, have been working in Ukraine on producing medium-caliber ammunition. This is our first project that is paid for with "Ukrainian dollars." We plan to expand this to tank ammunition, 155 mm, and others, as we find innovative processes," Dave Bartell, director of international business for Northrop's defense systems sector, said
Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US State Department for Military and Political Affairs Stanley Brown confirmed such plans at the Eurosatory arms exhibition in Paris.
During the speech, he noted the new US State Department program for the development of defense enterprises in Ukraine, which invests 2 billion dollars in the country's defense industrial base and can open the door for American-Ukrainian joint production.
For reference:
The American military-industrial company Northrop Grumman Corporation is considered one of the world's largest weapons manufacturers and military technology suppliers.
It is worth adding that Ukraine and Belgium are planning to establish a joint production of weapons.
In turn, the German concern Rheinmetall is conducting negotiations on the construction of a tank plant in Ukraine. Moreover, the Kremlin's threats to intensify the bombing of Ukraine will not affect the intentions of the German arms company Rheinmetall regarding this construction.
Also, Ukraine together with the German concern Rheinmetall will produce Lynx armored vehicles. The first car will be released already this year.
Even earlier it was reported that JSC Ukrainian Defense Industry together with the Polish company Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa will jointly produce 125 mm tank shells. Ukraine and Poland signed the corresponding agreement on April 5, 2024.
In addition, Ukraine, together with one of the NATO countries, began to produce 122-mm artillery shells. The first batch of ammunition has already been sent to the front.
Currently, about 300,000 people have been recruited to work in the defense complex of Ukraine.
JSC Ukrainian Defense Industry signed a memorandum of cooperation with the leading German company Dynamit Nobel Defense.
In addition, JSC Ukrainian Defense Industry will produce small arms in accordance with NATO standards.
Ukraine also creates joint ventures with partners. Thus, Ukraine and the USA recently agreed to launch a joint venture for the repair and maintenance of American armored vehicles.
