Russia carries out combined overnight attack on Ukraine
On the night of Friday, June 14, the enemy launched a combined air attack on Ukraine, releasing 31 means, including 14 missiles and 17 drones. Ukraine's air defense destroyed seven enemy missiles and 17 UAVs.
Rubryka reports that Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk, the commander of the Air Force, announced this in Telegram.
On the night of June 14, 2024, the Russian forces launched a missile-air strike against Ukraine, using various types of missiles and Shahed-type UAVs.
In total, the enemy used 31 means of air attack — 14 air and ground-based missiles and 17 strike UAVs, namely:
- 10 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95 MS strategic aviation aircraft (launched from Saratov region of the Russian Federation);
- 3 Iskander-M ballistic missiles (launched from Crimea and the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation);

To repulse an enemy air attack, Ukraine involved:
- fighter aircraft,
- anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,
- mobile fire groups,
- means of electronic warfare of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
As a result of anti-aircraft combat in Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kirovohrad regions, 24 air targets were shot down:
- 7 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles;
- 17 UAVs of the Shahed-131/136 type.
Russia's air attack on Ukraine
On the evening of June 13, an air alert was declared in several regions of Ukraine due to the launch of Shahed attack drones by the Russian forces.
In addition, the Air Force reported the takeoff of Russian strategic bombers (4 aircraft) Tu-22M3 and (5 aircraft) Tu-95 MS on the territory of the aggressor country, in particular in the Tambov area and from Olenegorsk.
Explosions on the night of May 14 during a combined Russian air attack were reported in Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia.
The explosion occurred in the Kharkiv area around 00:16.
Before that, the command of the Air Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces informed about the movement of enemy kamikaze drones in the Kharkiv region, headed northwest toward the Poltava region.
In Zaporizhzhia, a few minutes before the explosion, authorities announced the threat of ballistic missile strikes on the Zaporizhzhia region and other regions of Ukraine, where an air alert has been declared.
The sounds of explosions were heard in the Khmelnytskyi region, and air defense was working.
Local Telegram channels also reported on the Shahed groups and the work of the air defense, in particular in Starokostiantyniv.
There was also an explosion in Kyiv. Air defense forces allegedly shot down a high-speed target in the Kyiv region.
"An explosion was heard in Kyiv, probably outside the city limits," the message reads.
The Air Force reported a high-speed target moving toward the Kyiv region. The military assumed that it was an aeroballistic missile Kinzhal.
Let's add that Poland and allied countries raised military aircraft into the air that night because of the Russian attack on Ukraine.
"Another very tense night for the entire air defense system of Poland due to the existing activity of the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation, which strikes with cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles of the Shahed type on objects located, in particular, in the western territory of Ukraine," the message reads.
It will be recalled that on June 12, the Russian forces also launched a combined air strike on Ukraine, using cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as attack drones: the air defense forces managed to shoot down all enemy targets except for Iskander-M.
