United to win: Lithuania to provide Ukraine with 14 additional M113 armored personnel carriers
This week, Lithuania will hand over 14 M113 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine as part of the demining coalition.
The Ministry of Defense of Lithuania reports this on its website.
The department pointed out that the armored vehicles that were transferred are a complimentary donation to the demining coalition, which is co-led by Lithuania and Iceland. The Ukrainian side made a request for this equipment.
It is also reported that the Minister of Defense of Lithuania, Laurynas Kasciunas, plans to participate in the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format on June 13. The meeting will consider the Ukrainian army's military needs and discuss preparations for the NATO summit in Washington, which will be held on July 9-11.
It is worth mentioning that Lithuania had previously transferred the M113 armored personnel carrier. In September 2022, it was reported that Vilnius had supplied 50 of these vehicles. These APCs were also included in later aid packages. In April 2024, Ukraine received M577 command and staff vehicles based on the M113 from Lithuania.
For reference:
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Lithuania has provided more than 600 million euros in military aid to Ukraine. Recently, Lithuania announced the allocation of 3 million euros for the purchase of drones within the framework of the Drone Coalition.
In addition, Lithuania leads the demining coalition and assists in the field of Ukraine's cybersecurity.
