Ukraine joins forces with Germany and over 50 international partners to launch Skills Alliance for Ukraine

Ukraine, Germany, and more than 50 international organizations, states, and companies launched the so-called "Skills Alliance for Ukraine" to train and improve Ukrainians' skills to reconstruct their country.

According to Ukrinform, the German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development, Svenja Schulze, announced this during the opening of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin.

"Every day, Russia destroys buildings, hospitals, and power lines in its war against Ukraine. It targets the everyday lives of all Ukrainians. To survive, Ukraine must rebuild what was destroyed. For this, Ukraine needs a skilled workforce: electricians, engineers, and architects, as well as doctors and psychologists. That is why we are launching the Skilled Workforce Alliance for Ukraine today," she said.

According to Schulze, this will provide Ukraine important support during the war and reconstruction.

"No matter how often Russia destroys power lines, hospitals, or buildings, Ukrainians will have the knowledge and skills to restore them," the minister said.

According to the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany, more than 180,000 skilled workers will be trained within the "Skills Alliance for Ukraine" framework over the next three years.

The members of the Skilled Workforce Alliance will provide a total of more than 700 million euros for reconstruction.

The initiative is primarily aimed at:

• youth,
• internally displaced persons,
• women.

First of all, this applies to people in Ukraine and to those who seek protection abroad.

The Skilled Workforce Alliance unites various initiatives and strengthens practical cooperation between Ukraine and Alliance members. One example is the Skills4Recovery initiative, which the EU, Germany, Estonia, and Poland jointly fund.

It improves vocational training for internally displaced persons, youth, and veterans, focusing on key sectors such as:

• construction,
• logistics,
• agriculture,
• service industries,
• production.

As Rubryka reported, the Ukraine Recovery Conference started in Berlin with the participation of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholtz.

More than 2,000 politicians, diplomats, representatives of business, municipalities, and civil society from 60 countries are attending the two-day event.

This is already the third such conference during Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. The previous ones were held in Lugano (Switzerland) and London.

URC 2025 is planned to be held in Italy.
