Solutions from Ukraine: Ukrainian Railways introduces new, upgraded train for individuals with disabilities
"Ukrzaliznytsia" [Ukrainian Railways – ed.] completed the modernization of another electric train, the so-called "Hamster."

There are over 3 million individuals with disabilities in Ukraine. The number of people being injured due to military actions is rising every day.
What is the solution?
Therefore, "Ukrzaliznytsia" will launch another modernized train with ramps and seats for people with disabilities.

How does it work?
The train is scheduled to run in the Lviv region. It underwent modernization, which involved the following updates:
- Electric motors were overhauled;
- Wheel sets, auxiliary machines, braking, and electrical equipment were installed;
- The train body and internal cabin equipment were restored;
- Hard seats were replaced with luxurious, cushioned sofas;
- LED lighting was installed;
- New interior partitions were put in place.
Additionally, following the repair, the train was modified to cater to the needs of passengers with reduced mobility in groups. Specifically, it was equipped with designated spaces for individuals with disabilities and those traveling with children, as well as spots for easy transportation of bicycles.
This is the fifth electric train repaired since the beginning of the year.

It should be noted that over the past two years, the transport company "Ukrzaliznytsia" has already converted 68 cars for medical evacuation, which is performed by railway workers.
It was also reported that JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" opened a modern waiting room for people with disabilities at the Kharkiv railway station.
Additionally, a project to reconstruct a railway station in Lviv, which will be the first barrier-free station in Ukraine, was presented.
