During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in France, American leader Joe Biden announced the approval of a new 225 million-dollar military aid package for Ukraine, which includes the provision of weapons.

A CNN correspondent reports this.

"Biden announced a new aid package for Ukraine worth 225 million dollars, for which Zelensky thanked him," CNN reporter Nataliia Bertrand reported.

The media also reported that Biden apologized for the months-long delay in approving weapons for Ukraine.

It should be noted that, according to the media, the new aid from the USA will include:

  • ammunition for HIMARS reactive artillery systems;
  • mortar systems and artillery shells;
  • missiles for HAWK air defense systems;
  • anti-aircraft missiles Stinger;
  • Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems;
  • 155-mm howitzers;
  • armored vehicles;
  • patrol boats;
  • explosives and additional spare parts.

By the way, before this, the Associated Press wrote that the Ukrainian army would be able to use weapons from the new package, particularly to launch strikes against "threats inside Russia, to protect the city of Kharkiv."

Also, to quickly reach the battlefield in Ukraine, the weapons will be transferred from the United States's existing stocks.

For reference:

It should be noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Joe Biden are currently in France for a meeting today. They have arrived to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy during World War II, also known as "D-Day."

These face-to-face talks between the two leaders were the first since Zelensky visited Washington in December 2023.

However, it is also known that Zelensky and Biden will have one more meeting, namely at the G7 summit, which will be held in Italy on June 13-15.

As reported, during a speech in Normandy, Joe Biden thanked Ukrainians for their courage and promised further support.
