United to win: Japan transfers 101 vehicles to Ukraine in military aid shipment

The Japanese government delivered 101 vehicles to Ukraine's armed forces, including Toyota HMVs and Mitsubishi Type 73 Kogata army SUVs.
The Embassy of Japan in Ukraine reports this.
In the pictures posted on the X social network, there are:
- Toyota HMV army off-road vehicles,
- Mitsubishi Type 73 Kogata,
- and PC-065B tracked engineering machines.
It is reported that the vehicles first arrived in Poland on June 5 and then were transferred to Ukraine.

It's worth mentioning that this program was announced in May 2023 during a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

Toyota HMV
The Toyota Mega Cruiser is a Japanese off-road vehicle that directly competes with the American HMMWV.
The BXD10 model is the military version of this SUV, which is also known as the HMV (High Mobility Vehicle).

The military version has a 4.1-liter 15B-FTE turbocharged diesel engine that develops approximately 155 horsepower. The machine's load capacity is about one ton.
Mitsubishi Type 73 Kogata
The second-generation Mitsubishi Type 73 SUV was developed based on the civilian Mitsubishi Pajero of 1996. Production currently takes place at two Mitsubishi plants in Gifu and Aichi.
Between 1996 and 2014, the car was equipped with a 2.8-liter turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder 4M40 engine, producing 125 horsepower. Since 2014, a new 2.4-liter turbocharged in-line 4-cylinder 4N15 engine, also with a capacity of 125 hp, has been introduced.

Gearbox – 4-speed, automatic, drive – all-wheel drive, maximum speed – 125 km/h, load capacity – 440 kg.
The car can have a Minimi or a 12.7-mm Browning machine gun. In the Ground Self-Defense Forces, the SUV is used as a staff vehicle for commanders and officers.
PC-065B
These machines are used by engineering units of the Ground Self-Defense Forces for:
- arrangement of positions,
- clearing areas,
- transportation of various cargoes.

It is possible to install a manipulator to lift various loads.
The machine's maximum speed is 20 km/h, and its load capacity is 3 tons. Thanks to the use of composite off-road tracks, the dump truck can overcome difficult off-road conditions.

Due to its small dimensions and weight of 5 tons, it can be transported by 3-ton Type 73 trucks.
Moreover, through the World Bank's mechanism, Ukraine received a 1.5 billion US dollar loan from Japan and Great Britain to support the "Basics of Growth" development policy.
On February 1, Japan transferred about 390 million US dollars to the State Budget of Ukraine within the framework of World Bank projects aimed at social protection and restoration of agriculture.
Japan also joined the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children.
