Russia strikes Kharkiv, killing four and injuring 25
On the night of May 31, Russian soldiers launched 5 S-300/S-400 guided missiles from the Belgorod region of Russia towards Kharkiv. This destroyed a 5-story residential building, claiming the lives of four individuals and leaving 25 injured, including two children. Reports suggest that six more people may still be trapped under the debris.
The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Synehubov, the police, the Kharkiv Regional Emergency Service, and the Air Force reported that.
"A rocket struck a five-story residential building, causing complete destruction of the structures on the 3rd to 5th floors of one of its entrances. This also started a fire, covering an 80 square meter area. Firefighters were able to save six people from the damaged building, one of whom was a child," the State Emergency Service stated.
Synehubov informed that four people had died as of this morning.
"Unfortunately, another dead body was found in the destroyed building. At the moment, there are four fatalities," he said.
The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration also mentioned that among the 25 victims were two children, a 12-year-old boy and a girl.
Additionally, a fire truck and an ambulance were damaged due to repeated shelling at 00:15. Tragically, a man born in 1959 lost his life when a rocket hit the grounds of a civilian enterprise.
Another strike hit a three-story administrative building.
According to Volodymyr Tymoshko, the head of the National Police in the Kharkiv region, the enemy used a double-strike tactic to inflict the most damage.
It is reported that six more people may still be under the rubble. Emergency and rescue operations at the site of the destroyed residential building are ongoing.
