China declines Ukraine Peace Summit participation – Reuters
China has decided not to participate in the June Global Peace Summit on Ukraine, which will be held in Switzerland.
Reuters writes about this with reference to four sources.
According to the publication, this week, China informed diplomats that it wants Russia and Ukraine to recognize the conference. Beijing also wants equal participation in the summit by all parties to the war and "an honest discussion of all proposals."
According to the publication's interlocutors, Beijing rejected the invitation because these conditions were unmet.
China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs officially stated that it supports convening a "mutually recognized" peace conference "with equal participation of all parties."
As reported, China and Brazil support the conference on peace in Ukraine only with the participation of Russia.
However, Ukraine wants the People's Republic of China to join the summit, which will be held in Switzerland on June 15-16, because Beijing influences the Russian Federation.

In addition, on May 7, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on countries with developing economies to participate in the Global Peace Summit regarding Ukraine.
On May 9, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the participating countries will consider several major issues related to the war in Ukraine at the Peace Summit, which will be held in Switzerland in June.
