Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, had a phone call with Luis Montenegro, the Prime Minister of Portugal. They discussed the current situation regarding the front and the cancellation of foreign trips.

Zelensky wrote about this on Twitter (X).

The head of state telephoned Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro and informed him about the situation at the front and "Russia's attempts to expand the war."

"All attention is now focused on our ongoing defensive operations and contact with the military, necessitating the postponement of all foreign visits," the statement said.

The leaders of the countries discussed the Peace Summit in detail.

Zelensky expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister of Portugal for confirming his participation in the summit.

"I am grateful to Prime Minister Montenegro for confirming Portugal's attendance and assuring me that his country will use its contacts to secure maximum international support for the Peace Summit," Zelensky added.

For reference:

On May 13, Rubryka reported that Ukraine's President, Volodymyr Zelensky, would soon travel to Madrid to sign a bilateral security agreement with Spain. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez would sign the agreement on behalf of Spain.

It is noted that the bilateral security agreement between Spain and Ukraine will ensure the stability and predictability of the military support that Spain already provides to Kyiv through the supply of weapons, the training of more than 4,000 fighters at the Training and Coordination Center in Toledo and the care of dozens of wounded at the military hospital in Zaragoza.

On May 14, the date of Zelensky's upcoming visit to Spain became known. The head of state was supposed to visit the capital of Spain—Madrid—on May 17.

It became known that Ukraine's President, Volodymyr Zelensky, canceled his visits to Spain and Portugal due to the difficult situation at the front.

It is not the first time the head of state has postponed trips to these countries.
