United to win: Denmark allocates €750 mln in military assistance to Ukraine for artillery and air defense support
On May 16, the Danish government decided to allocate a new package of military aid worth 750 million euros to Ukraine, which also included the supply of air defense equipment and artillery.
The Ministry of Defense of Denmark reports this.
As noted in the Ministry of Defense, the Danish government informed the Foreign Policy Council on May 16 about a new donation package to Ukraine totaling 5.6 billion kroner (750 million euros).
It is noted that 2.4 billion Danish crowns (321 million euros) have been reserved from this amount for air defense. Part of the funds will also go to the free transfer of F-16 aircraft to Ukraine.
In addition, Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen stated that the government also allocates additional funds for direct investment in the Ukrainian defense industry as part of the package.
Furthermore, Ukraine is set to receive shells and anti-tank mines, marking the 18th consecutive aid package. Troels Lund Poulsen expressed concerns about the gravely severe situation in Ukraine.
"Ukrainians need constant and massive support from allies. With this package, we are sending an unequivocal signal to Ukraine and the outside world.
We are making both donations now and are ready to make large-scale and long-term investments in the Ukrainian defense industry. Their struggle for freedom, as before, remains our struggle," the minister added.
For reference:
- France will supply Ukraine with a new batch of Aster anti-aircraft missiles for the SAMP/T air defense system.
- The United States of America is considering sending another Patriot battery to Ukraine.
- Germany will hand over the IRIS-T air defense system to Ukraine in May.
It should be noted that Ukraine will receive 42 American F-16 fighter jets from the Netherlands, and 19 aircraft from Denmark.
Ukrainian pilots, who have received training on F–16 fighter jets in Denmark and the United States, are currently practicing the missions they will carry out in Ukraine. This includes targeting Shahed drones and rockets in simulated strikes.
In addition to funds for military aid, the Danish government also allocates additional funds for the Danish-Ukrainian fund, which helps attract investments from Danish companies to Ukraine.
Moreover, Denmark decided to allocate almost 6 million euros to restore Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
In addition, Denmark allocated a new arms package worth €295 million to support Ukrainian naval potential.
