Russian infantry units enter Vovchansk, Kharkiv region – Ukraine's defense ministry
The Russian infantry has entered Vovchansk, located in the Kharkiv region, and is attempting to establish a presence in the northern section of the city. Fighting is still ongoing in the area.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Defense, Dmytro Lazutkin, said this on the telethon air.
"Regarding the situation in Vovchansk, the enemy is trying to gain a foothold in the northern part of the city, trying to enter with small infantry groups.
Our task is to destroy the enemy and prevent it from gaining more strength and a foothold," the spokesman emphasized.
According to Lazutkin, the utilization of FPV drones and artillery has dramatically enhanced the effectiveness of the Ukrainian military in combating invaders, especially in situations where the enemy uses vehicles to transport infantry.
"The reserves have been deployed. In fact, these highly effective and prepared units are currently stationed near Vovchansk, maintaining control of this direction. However, a few Russian infantry groups have indeed entered the city," the soldier added.
According to the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, the leader of Ukraine's armed forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, made a report to President Volodymyr Zelensky today. Syrskyi is currently the combat brigade, which is currently under the command of Brigadier General Mykhailo Drapaty.
"Therefore, combat work continues. It is clear that the situation is not easy and that tension remains. There is a tendency towards stabilization, but heavy battles continue.
The enemy is trying to stretch the front and tie up our forces somewhere. Indeed, our task is to destroy the occupier. And this is done in large quantities. The occupiers are dying on the approaches to Vovchansk, its surroundings, and in the city itself," the spokesman emphasized.
As reported earlier by Rubryka, Russian forces are currently occupying street positions in the border town of Vovchansk, located in the Kharkiv region. Residents are being strongly advised to evacuate the area.
