US confirms $400 mln worth of military aid to Ukraine
The United States of America will provide Ukraine with weapons as part of a new $400 million military aid package.
Rubryka reports this, referring to the White House and the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andrii Yermak.
The text states that Biden ordered Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to allocate $400 million for Ukraine's needs. At the same time, the White House website does not indicate which weapons will be transferred to Ukraine.
It should be noted that this is the second package of military aid to Ukraine from the US after Congress allocated money for it at the end of April.
According to Yermak, Ukraine will receive from the US:
- missiles for Patriot air defense systems,
- NASAMS,
- Stinger anti-aircraft missiles,
- ammunition for HIMARS and artillery,
- equipment and others.
We will remind you that Rubryka previously reported that today, May 10, the United States of America should announce a new package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of $400 million.
What is known about the provision of US aid to Ukraine
On April 24, the Senate finally supported the law on aid to Ukraine for almost $61 billion.
Later that same day, US President Joe Biden signed it. The head of the White House also announced a new package of $1 billion of military aid to Ukraine.
In addition, the United States secretly transferred long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine. They were apparently included in the March aid package to Ukraine from the US for $300 million.
As President Volodymyr Zelensky noted earlier, the most important needs at the moment are:
- 155 mm caliber artillery;
- long-range weapons;
- air defense systems.
For his part, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, said that at the moment it is "too early" to talk about the effect on the battlefield of the military aid funding provided to Ukraine by the United States. It will take time for Kyiv to be able to get some of the allocated opportunities.
