The relevant decree was published on the Office of the President's website.
The President signed a decree dismissing Valery Zaluzhnyi, the former Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's armed forces, from military service.
The decree states, "Grant General Valery Zaluzhnyi an honorable discharge from military duty based on medical reasons, with the permission to wear a military uniform."
On July 27, 2021, Valery Zaluzhnyi was chosen as the Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's armed forces. However, he stepped down from the position on February 8, 2024.
The head of state also appointed Valery Zaluzhnyi as ambassador to Great Britain.
"To appoint Valery Zaluzhny as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland," the document states.
The president approved his candidacy for the post of Ambassador of Ukraine to Great Britain on March 7.
Back then, there were reports that the British government should agree to accept Zaluzhnyi as the head of Ukraine's diplomatic mission. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs subsequently sent a request to the British government.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has sent a corresponding request for an agreement. Our alliance with Britain must only strengthen," Zelensky added.

On February 8, Valery Zaluzhnyi, the Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine's armed forces, resigned and retained the right to wear his military uniform. Zaluzhnyi had been leading the army since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In his stead, Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander of the Ground Forces of Ukraine's armed forces, was appointed.
On March 7, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky approved the candidacy of Valery Zaluzhnyi for the position of ambassador of Ukraine to Great Britain.
The head of state noted that Zaluzhnyi himself wished to work in a diplomatic direction.
