Russian military strikes Kharkiv, injuring three children at educational institution

On May 8, Russian forces bombarded Kharkiv, injuring three children, according to initial reports.

The mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, and the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that on Telegram.

The head of the city noted that the strikes were recorded in a residential area of the city.

Subsequently, "Suspilne" writes with reference to eyewitnesses that the Russian military targeted the territory of a children's playground in the residential area of Kharkiv.

In turn, Syniehubov clarifies that the shooting was recorded in an open area on the territory of an educational institution.

He said that at least three children were injured. Initially, there were reports of two victims — boys aged 13 and 15.

"The condition of one of the injured children is serious," reports Terekhov.

The head of the local military administration also stated that medical personnel are providing aid to another child – a 12-year-old boy who was injured.

Even later, Syniehubov added that the number of victims had increased to five. In addition to three children, a 55-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman were also injured.

It should be noted that on May 5 in Kharkiv, the number of wounded as a result of shelling in the Shevchenkivsky district increased to 14.

Also, on the night of May 5, the Russian occupiers attacked the private sector of the city of Kharkiv with attack drones, as a result of which five residents were injured, including a child.

During the night of May 7–8, Russian soldiers initiated a significant assault on several Ukrainian regions, utilizing kamikaze drones and a variety of missiles.

The enemy attacked the regions of Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Vinnytsia.

The invaders also launched a major assault on the capital and surrounding area, 

utilizing kamikaze drones and rockets. Fortunately, Ukrainian anti-aircraft defenses successfully took down all enemy targets over Kyiv. However, two people were injured due to one strike in the region.

In turn, the Ministry of Energy announced that electricity generation and transmission facilities were attacked in six regions: Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Vinnytsia.

Because of a nighttime attack from the enemy on energy infrastructure facilities in 6 regions, there may be a need to restrict electricity usage during the evening.

Overall, the Russians launched a total of 55 missiles and 21 kamikaze drones in their attack on Ukraine. Still, Ukraine's air defense forces were able to destroy 59 enemy targets in the air successfully.
