United to win: Lithuania ready to deploy troops to Ukraine for training mission

Lithuania is prepared to deploy its troops to Ukraine for a training mission, but Kyiv has not yet made a corresponding request.

The Prime Minister of Lithuania, Ingrida Šimonytė, told the Financial Times about this.

The head of the Lithuanian government reported that she already has permission from the parliament to send troops to Ukraine to conduct exercises. However, Kyiv has not yet made a request in this regard.

The Prime Minister of Lithuania admitted that Russia will consider this a provocation. However, she noted:

"If we were just thinking about Russia's reaction, we wouldn't be able to send anything. Every other week, you hear about someone getting a nuclear strike."

Šimonytė expressed doubts that the Russian Federation will use nuclear weapons since radioactive fallout will also fall on the territory of the Russian Federation itself.

Earlier, French leader Emmanuel Macron announced the possibility of deploying troops into Ukraine's territory, which caused a debate among Ukraine's allies.

France later clarified that it was not planning to deploy troops to directly participate in hostilities. Several NATO countries, including Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Canada, have expressed their willingness to consider this option.

However, several other NATO member countries, including the USA, Germany, Great Britain, Canada, Spain, the Czech Republic, Poland, and others, have already stated that they are not planning to deploy their troops to Ukraine.

On May 2, Macron confirmed again that he does not rule out the introduction of French ground troops into Ukraine "if the Russians break through the front line."
