Ukrainian soldiers keep Easter traditions alive even on frontline

The Ukrainian military paint Easter eggs near Bakhmut. After all, such spiritual traditions, which have deep roots in the Ukrainian ethnos, have always united Ukrainians.

As reported, Lviv paratroopers continue to preserve the warmth of family traditions and their homes.

"All these spiritual traditions, which have deep roots in the Ukrainian ethnic group, have always united each of us. Wherever we are, in any part of our country," the military emphasized.

As noted by the General Staff, while carrying out combat missions in Donbas and restraining the enemy near Bakhmut, they find time to decorate Easter eggs and later send them to their native Lviv, to the garrison church of Peter and Paul.

"Each Easter egg is unique because it contains the names of the units, the symbols of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and brigades.

Everyone will be able to feel the breath of unity through the photos depicting the creation of these unique Easter eggs," the military command added.

We will remind you that on May 5, Ukrainians celebrate Easter—for the third time during the full-scale war—the main, most solemn, and largest church holiday, which symbolizes the Resurrection of the Son of God. According to the Christian religion, Jesus Christ atoned for the sins of people on earth and gave them eternal life by his death on the cross.

Traditionally, the Easter Divine Service lasts all night because the Feast of the Resurrection of Christ begins at midnight. However, due to the martial law in Ukraine and the curfew, all services have been postponed until morning.

Traditionally, the family gathers immediately after returning from church at the festive table. 

It is worth adding that Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed Ukrainians on the occasion of the bright holiday on May 5, Easter.
